Dr Justine Bates-Krakoff, Ph.D. Bio
Dr. Justine Bates-Krakoff is a clinical Neuropsychologist at The Neurobehavioral Unit/Center for Neurosciences. Dr. Bates is a New Jersey native and obtained her Ph.D. from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Dr. Bates completed her internship at The Coatesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center (CVAMC) in Coatesville, PA, and her Neuropsychology Fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in New York City. Her professional interests include adult neuropsychology, with a specialization in geriatrics and neurodegenerative diseases.
Dr. Bates works with a variety of medical & neurological diagnoses including, but not limited to:
- Baseline cognitive functioning (e.g., family history of dementia)
- Cognitive changes following a medical illness or surgery
- Capacity evaluations (e.g., to establish POA)
- Dementia assessments for conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia, and dementia with Lewy Bodies
- Epilepsy
- HIV-associated dementia complex
- Language disturbance (e.g., primary progressive aphasia)
- Memory evaluations for mild cognitive impairment (MCI), dementia, or normal aging
- Movement disorders (e.g., Parkinson’s disease)

Dr. Joseph P. Haughey, Psy.D. Bio
Dr. Joe Haughey is a clinical neuropsychologist who specializes in ADHD, Autism, Learning Disabilities, and other neurological conditions. Dr. Haughey currently practices at The Center for Neuroscience along with several neurologists, neurologic nurse practitioners, and geriatric neuropsychologist. The practice recently moved from Riddle Hospital in Media, PA to Glen Mills, PA. Many of the local hospital systems have wait lists from 12-18 months for a neuropsychological evaluation while The Center for Neuroscience and Dr. Haughey have immediate openings and can see patients within 1-2 weeks. Not only is Dr. Haughey well trained in the assessment for adult and pediatric ADHD and Learning Disabilities, he is trained in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule -Second Edition (ADOS-2), the gold evaluation for diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder. If yourself, your child, or student has wondered about difficulties with memory, attention, learning, and social-emotional abilities, consider a neuropsychological evaluation. Results will provide a unique understanding of cognitive strengths and weaknesses along with an understanding of psychological functioning. Upon follow-up, Dr. Haughey will help you navigate the treatment planning process whether that include setting up an appointment for medication consultation, setting up a meeting with the Child Study Team (CST) to determine if an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504- Education_al Plan is appropriate, and collaboration with other health professionals. Elizabeth Merryfield, Psy.D. Bio
Elizabeth A. Merryfield, PsyD, earned her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from APA accredited doctoral program at LaSalle University in 2003. Additionally, she holds a separate Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with training in marriage and family therapy. Throughout her mental health career, Dr. Merryfield has worked with all age groups and highly values the application of evidence driven interventions within her therapeutic practice. As a Licensed Psychologist, Dr. Merryfield works to create a safe, welcoming therapeutic environment where clients can explore their emotions and better understand their patterns of behavior. She specializes in treating depression, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anxiety disorders, grief/loss issues, mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, self-esteem, mindfulness, social issues, parent-child relational issue, postpartum depression, and stress management. Dr. Merryfield’s treatment emphasis on use of a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused approach, supported by psychoeducation. This approach empowers patients towards intendent, successful skill development and application, where patients can actively learn about their patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving, while fostering strong collaborative and integrative healthcare experiences with her patients.
Sheria A. Hudson, CRNP, MSN Bio
Sheria Hudson is a native of Wilmington, DE. She obtained her B.A. in Biological Science and her B.S. in Nursing from University of Delaware. In 2006, she obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from Wilmington University Family Nurse Practitioner program. She is board certified and an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is a member of the American Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau International nursing honors society.
Sheria joined Center for Neuroscience in October 2023 after practicing with Wilmington Neurology Consultants in Delaware for 16 years. She has worked as an adjunct faculty clinical instructor for the Drexel University post baccalaureate nursing program. She works part time as a registered nurse on a surgical unit at Wilmington Hospital (Christina Care Health Services). In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and their 2 children.
Terry Gervase, BNS, CNRN, SCN Bio
Terry Gervase is a certified Neuroscience Nurse (CNRN) and a Stroke Certified Nurse (SCN). She is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson University and worked at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital for 10 years before joining the Center for Neuroscience in 1998
